brandied cherries

Cherry season is right around the corner...cherries will be ripe in May/June and don't last very long. Brandied Cherries need to sit for at least 6 weeks before they are ready, however they will stay good for 1 year in the refrigerator making them great gifts for the fall and winter! 

The recipe below is adapted from Saveur magazine, but feel free to add spices or citrus peel to give it your own twist.

* Pitting cherries is a little messy, Aaron and I like to turn on a good movie and settle in, towels all around to keep the mess under control.
